Award-winning Bermudian-owned IT firm Fireminds Ltd said they have “developed a unique new cloud product that harnesses the power of Microsoft one of the world’s biggest companies and fastest growing cloud providers.”

“Called ‘Desktop As A Service’, it has been developed by the Fireminds team, who has developed cloud solutions for a decade, and can run on any Apple product, PC or Android. Fireminds are ranked as one of the top Microsoft Partners for cloud and boosts a several certifications in Microsoft Azure Cloud and Office 365,” the company said.

“You log in and your desktop appears. In this ‘bring your own device’ world, you are better off having a virtual desktop. It is as if you are looking through a piece of glass on your device at your desktop.”

“Your data never leaves the cloud. All your applications, process data, like Office suite, QuickBooks and industry specific applications for legal, finance and re-insurance are available. You do not need a powerful computer and you do not need expensive infrastructure or people to support it.”

Fireminds has been using Microsoft cloud services for four years and Fireminds was also recognised as the 2015 Microsoft Country Partner of the Year for Bermuda for “demonstrating excellence in innovation and implementation of customer solutions based on Microsoft technology”.

“Because Microsoft has data centres in 19 countries there is no issue of sovereignty and clients do not have to be concerned about data being in the USA. Also included in the cloud product is Office 365 which has email hosting, video conferencing and Skype for Business,” the company added.

“In addition, the new product allows for the set up for a cloud-based telephone system, so people can call someone from their iPhone or Android device and present their Bermuda telephone number.

“The cloud platform is backed by Fireminds 24 x 7 support and monitoring, with 15 staff in Bermuda who provide on-site support under specific service level agreements. Fireminds also has round the clock support with global staff in Toronto and Europe to ensure client’s cloud environment is fully operational.”

Mr Branco, who has over 10 years experience building cloud platforms, added: “An important aspect of this cloud product is that businesses will have a private cloud ensuring security of their important data, they will not be sharing any network with anyone else and the product can be customised to meet the needs of the business.”

“Running systems on a cloud product can save companies tens of thousands of dollars in infrastructure – either in replacements or maintenance.”

“However, we will also run a hybrid version where we can run everything can be on the cloud but also have servers in our Bermuda data centre or at the customer’s office which provides on-island resiliency.
